| I found this on this rumour on the internet today. It's a similar procedure Universal did on my trip. They have barcode readers but they also still make you scan your finger.
| Quote: | Disney will be installing barcode readers at the turnstiles. Now, instead of scanning your finger, you will simply swipe your card and gain entry. No more choosing which hand or finger, waiting for people to get it “just right” - it will be a quick, automated process. I think this is a wonderful idea, as no longer will Guest interaction and familiarity with the process determine how long it takes to gain entry. As long as the card contains valid entry media on it, the Guest can gain access. Will this possibly allow people to use a card form someone else in their party? Probably. Is that a big deal? Not likely.

| | Quote: | | : In the very near future, WDW will be testing and implementing a new way to speed along the FASTPASS system. Instead of having a Cast Member manually look at and count the FASTPASSES (also ensuring that the dates and times are within the window that you were given), there will now be a bar code reader that will scan each FASTPASS to ensure its validity, and in the process, also speed along the queue. |
I don't understand how this will eliminate a CM from looking at your FP when you return at the time stated. How will this ensure that someone isn't coming back at the wrong time? Unless they mean, there will be another machine to put your bar code into to verify. _________________ Disney Travel Specialist. Click Here to recieve a quote!

| I do know someone who actually works at Disney right now and they really are seriously considering doing that. Each cast member that is working the Fastpass returns at the attractions will be handed the Fastpass and they are going to swipe it in a handheld reader. It will deny the guest entry if the times don't match and things like that. I don't realyl see it saving much time but you never know. |

| I guess this is the part that confused me. I would have though it was just as fast for a CM to quickly look at the return stub, as it would for a guest to have to have their card ready to be scanned
Think of how many woman keep their cards and the familiescards safe in their purses. At least thats what I do when we travel with the grandkids _________________ Disney Travel Specialist. Click Here to recieve a quote!
