| On March 27, 2008, the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security announced their final ruling for the land and sea portion of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) regarding the proof of citizenship requirements for U.S. citizens. As a result, effective June 1, 2009, U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port) will be able to present one of the following as proof of U.S. citizenship (this applies to all Disney Cruise Line® itineraries in 2009): A valid, unexpired U.S. passport ~ Original state issued Birth Certificate. (In addition, Guests 18 years of age and older must present a photo ID issued by a Local, State or Federal Government agency.) ~ Original Certificate of Naturalization. (In addition, Guests 18 years of age and older must present a photo ID issued by a Local, State or Federal Government agency.) ~ Original Certificate of Citizenship. (In addition, Guests 18 years of age and older must present a photo ID issued by a Local, State or Federal Government agency.) ~ Original Consular Report of Birth Abroad for a U.S. Citizen. (In addition, Guests 18 years of age or older must present a photo ID issued by a Local, State or Federal Government agency.) Disney Cruise Line and all other cruise lines strongly encourage Guests of all ages to have a valid U.S. passport for all cruises. As a reminder, people (including citizens of the U.S.) traveling by air between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport. So keep in mind if you have an emergency and have to fly home from a port you cannot re-enter the US without a passport. _________________ Disney Travel Specialist. Click Here to recieve a quote!

| It is good to see they are giving guests time to get the passport this time. Hopefully people will not wait until last minute and get not have all the troubles that happened before. When my dad and I went on our cruise last year we submitted our passport application in November for our April cruise and we ended up getting it 1 weke before cruising. That was really pushing it. |

| I don't understand why they would make the exseption for closed-loop cruises. A cruise is a cruise. _________________ Disney Travel Specialist. Click Here to recieve a quote!

| | I agree. I think they want to make it more confusing for people. If they would have just said passports for all cruises that would have been much easier. |
